KSA #13 Teachers identify and use relevant learning resources
"Allie displays awareness of resources to enhance content and pedagogical knowledge available through the School and with resources external to the school and on the Internet."
- Caroline R., PS III School Administrator
There is a huge world of resources out there, some of which are extremely useful for us in Alberta, and some which have nothing at all to do with our curricular outcomes. Once you build a good rapport with fellow colleagues and share with them everything you have to offer, they often begin to share with you as well. I have found this to be the most helpful and useful way to acquire materials and resources. As a new teacher it is sometimes difficult to know whether or not a particular resource will work with your age group or your group of individuals. When a colleague gives you a resource, typically they have used it in their classroom with the same age group you are going to be using it with. They can tell you what worked, and what might need to be changed in order to fully optimize the resource. This really helps ensure that you are indeed using the small amount of time you do have to teach something in the most effective way possible.
Additionally I make use of many Internet resources to find a variety of creative assessments and activities to ensure I am providing various opportunities in the classroom. I often use Pinterest, Google, and Teachers Pay Teachers. Libraries are always and amazing place to look for resources, especially in the younger grades as students love to learn through stories. I search the school library, as well as the public library for resources.

"Throughout this process she ensured that she used a variety of appropriate resources and instructional and assessment strategies."
