So, today was the day that we went around to all of the other Ready 2 Read groups in the school and presented our Readers Theatre script, "The Frog Prince Continued". I had told the students that they could dress up like their character, so I had witches hats and crowns and even a fairy wand! It was so great; they looked so cute! One of the students in my group was sick that day so I had to step in and perform as well! Not going to lie, I did have a few butterflies! I don't know how my students did it, they didn't seem nervous at all! I mean, they had no reason to be nervous because we had practiced a lot and they were very good at their lines, but I mean its still just a tad bit scary, right? Maybe it's just me...
Anyhow, we wasted no time fooling around at the beginning of our class period because we wanted to make it around to all of the groups! So, we got in our line up and headed to the first class. The script is pretty funny so we had some giggles and laughs, especially from the teachers!
What I found most interesting is that, even though I had obviously seen an improvement in their reading of the script from the day that I gave it to them, I also heard an improvement as we went along from group to group. As I said before, all of the students had practically perfected it already, but I could certainly hear a difference in our first performance to our last. Repeat reading at its finest!
Anyways, the kids had a blast and all of the groups really enjoyed our presentation. I am really happy that I could give some purpose to all that repeated reading of the script! I couldn't have been more proud!
